For the first time, all ten paintings can be seen together at the Automotive Hall of Fame in Dearborn. “Even I have never seen all ten paintings together in one place,” laughs Maher, a Bloomfield Hills resident whose work has been exhibited at some of the nation’s most important automotive gatherings, including Meadow Brook, Pebble Beach and Amelia Island. “The Automotive Hall of Fame is the ideal place for these paintings to be enjoyed.” “This is actually the third time Charles has exhibited here,” said Jeffrey Leestma, Automotive Hall of Fame president, “but with work we’ve never seen before. Even though the cruising season is over in Michigan, the spirit of cruising can continue through the winter because of this outstanding collection of automotive art.” The “Ten Years of Cruising” exhibit continues at the Automotive Hall of Fame through March. Maher has been painting full time since 1988. Previously, he worked as an automotive designer. He is a past president of the National Automotive Artists Association and a member of the Automotive Fine Art Society. His work has appeared in many automotive publications, including AutoWeek, Sports Car Market, Racer, Road & Track, Mustang Monthly, Automobile, and Car Collector. “Since 1999, Charles Maher has designed the annual posters for our Classic Car Show,” said Michael Lary, event coordinator for the Ferndale Woodward Dream Cruise Weekend. “His work has proven to be overwhelmingly popular to the automotive enthusiast.” The Ferndale Woodward Dream Cruise Weekend takes place in the downtown shopping district of Ferndale, and is a participating member of the Woodward Dream Cruise. The Ferndale Dream Cruise Weekend will take place August 14, 15 and 16, 2009. The “Ten Years of Cruising” exhibit is showing now through March 31, 2009. The Automotive Hall of Fame is located in Dearborn, next to The Henry Ford, and is open Wednesday through Sunday, 9 to 5. For information, call 313-240-4000. ### |
