Michael E. Martini

Michael E. Martini is the former president of the Consumer Original Equipment division of Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations and was a corporate officer. He recently retired and is now principal of MEM Enterprises. Prior to MEM, he spent 40 years at Bridgestone and led the OE sales, engineering and marketing activity for Consumer OE tires in the Americas.

Mr. Martini joined The Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in 1977 in the materials development area. He spent 5 years developing innovative tire compounds to meet the emerging fuel economy needs of the auto industry and is a patent holder. His career led to various roles in tire engineering and development of business relationships with Asian automotive OEM manufacturers. In 1987 he relocated to the Detroit OE Sales Office and was responsible for both commercial and engineering activities for a number of OEM’s.

In 1988 Bridgestone purchased The Firestone Tire and Rubber Company at which time Mr. Martini was named Account Executive for General Motors. He was promoted to Global Team Leader for GM in 1994 for OE Sales and Engineering. In 1999 he was promoted to a key executive level and on December 1, 2001 to Vice President of OE Sales and Engineering. In 2003 he was named President (Business owner) of the Consumer OE segment of Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire. LLC and in 2004 was named to BFNT’s Board of Directors.

Martini was born in Rochester, New York. He holds a Chemistry degree from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from Kent State University. In addition to being a board member of the Automotive Hall of Fame, Mr. Martini is also Vice Chairman of OESA, a member of the steering committee of MichAuto, a board member of the NADA Foundation, and a board member of Delta Wing Technologies and Forgotten Harvest.  He has active involvement with SAE, Knights of Columbus, Habitat for Humanity, and the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology.
