Elwood Haynes, Luca di Montezemolo, Roger Penske, and Ratan Tata will be inducted into Dearborn’s Automotive Hall of Fame at an awards ceremony in July.

“We are pleased to honor four individuals whose entrepreneurial spirit helped create today’s global automotive industry,” says William Chapin, president of the Automotive Hall of Fame. “Each made their unique vision a reality through tenacity and creativity.”

Haynes was the co-founder of the Haynes-Apperson Automobile Co., which produced Haynes-Apperson automobiles until 1905, followed by Haynes automobiles through 1925. Di Montezemolo is the former chairman of Ferrari S.p.A., and helped to return Scuderia Ferrari to racing prominence. Penske, founder and chairman of the Penske Corp., a transportation services company, also built one of the most successful automotive racing teams in history, winning 15 Indianapolis 500 championships. Tata, chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, was instrumental in advancing the status and profitability of the Jaguar and Range Rover brands.

More than 250 people have been inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame. Last year, Keith Crain, chairman of Crain Communications and editor-in-chief of Automotive News, engineer Dr. Ferdinand Piëch, customer satisfaction pioneer J.D. “Dave” Power III, and the late designer Alex Tremulis were inducted.

The Induction & Awards Gala Ceremony on July 23 at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center will include remarks by A.J. Baime, author of The Arsenal of Democracy and Go Like Hell. Tickets for the black-tie event are available at automotivehalloffame.org or by contacting Kerry Doyle at 313-240-4000 or KDoyle@thedrivingspirit.org.
