Intern Program

The Automotive Hall of Fame regularly hires interns. Check back often for new intern postings.

What our interns are saying …

“Although it may sound like an unlikely pairing, I’ve spent the past year researching automotive history at work and studying art history at home.

“I graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in humanities that focused on art history and museum work. I knew that I wanted to go to graduate school, but I took a gap year to prepare my application materials. Recognizing that the time off school provided me with the chance to gain experience in the museum field, I began looking for internship opportunities.

“I had planned to find an internship related to art history; however, when I learned about the opportunity to research and write labels for the Automotive Hall of Fame, it sounded like a great fit. I had only expected to gain experience in label writing, but the knowledge that I have received during my time at the Hall has greatly surpassed that.

“I started taking on several other responsibilities for the Hall, including conducting Zoom interviews with alumni and their families, sourcing materials to add to our website, and creating content for our blog and newsletter. I also began working with the network of automotive experts in the Society of Automotive Historians, editing biographies and expanding our archives.

“I could list dozens of areas in which I have grown academically and professionally from this internship; however, I am most appreciative of the wealth of unique experiences that I am now able to share not only in future interviews, but also with my friends and family. Although I was hesitant at first to intern for an automotive museum rather than an art museum, I now see that it was an amazing opportunity for me to be pushed out of my comfort zone and gain an abundance of new knowledge. “
