Dale K. Craig devoted his working life to the trucking industry and its people. In 1927, the year he was born, his father bought a trucking company, where he started working when he was 15. After graduating with a business degree from Indiana University, he bought his own small refrigerated fleet. Four years later he bought an Illinois trucking company, doubling the Midwest area he served. Craig Transportation Company, created in 1973, served 16 states with 360 trailers and 151 power units. A past president and director of the American Trucking Associations (ATA), Craig received the Dove Award, the highest honor bestowed by the ATA.
