Vaughn Beals spent his early years with Harley-Davidson instigating many innovative quality and emission control, new product strategy, and marketing programs before becoming the corporation’s CEO in 1981 and leading the successful buyout of the Milwaukee-based motorcycle manufacturer. In 1986, Beals guided the corporation’s much-heralded return to public ownership. Harley-Davidson’s revitalization led to its acquisition that same year of the Holiday Rambler Corporation, builders of premier recreational and commercial vehicles.
