On Sunday, October 9, the Automotive Hall of Fame will be co-hosting a car show in our parking lot in association with East Michigan Car Meets. East Michigan Car Meets (EMMEET) is a Dearborn-based group that is comprised mainly of bright, young car enthusiasts who are passionate about the automotive hobby. The group has hosted multiple car shows around southeast Michigan, and felt that the Hall of Fame would be an excellent venue to host their next show.
EMMEET was originally formed by two high school students that were car enthusiasts. They were both interested in going to car shows, but were having trouble finding any around them. “There weren’t any (meets) in our area so we decided to make our own”, said Hussein Salloom, one of EMMEET’s founders. “We went from 20 car attendance to 400-plus.” Though EMMEET’s beginnings were relatively humble, its founders have high hopes for its future. “(Our) goal and intent for EMMEET is to make it a professional show brand in southeast Michigan” said Salloom. “We always think big so the goal is to make EMMEET continue to grow. We have received nothing but positivity and support from so many groups, members and businesses.”
The “Octoberfest” show will start at 3 pm and run until 7 pm. In addition to a diverse selection of cars from all over metro Detroit, the show will feature a “VIP” vehicle showcase, a DJ, and multiple vendors. The turnout of the show is already looking strong with over 200 cars RSVP’d and a projected attendance of between 300-400 cars. There is no charge to bring a car to the show and it is open to all makes and models.
Please note that the Hall of Fame will be open for abbreviated hours the day of the show. Our business hours that Sunday will be from 9 am to 3 pm.
