Andrew Sexton

Awarded Young Leaders & Excellence Award 2010

As one of the youngest Directors, Andrew Sexton holds the highest ranking position for the Powertrain Sealings and Bearings Group in the Asia Pacific region.  Sexton is responsible for integrating operation strategy with sales, and engineering and developing and driving the strategic direction for PTSB in the region.

These responsibilities involve developing and implementing business plans and strategic initiatives to ensure both short-term and long-range goals of profitable growth in the Asia Pacific region; ensure the day-to-day operations of the Powertrain Sealings and Bearings businesses are meeting established strategic, operating and financial objectives; monitor key indicators and business conditions that could impact strategic and operational direction.

He began his career with Federal-Mogul at the Skokie, Illinois manufacturing facility as a Manufacturing Engineer on the shop floor.  He became a team leader as a production supervisor.  Also prior to his current position, Sexton was Quality Supervisor – Powertrain Division at Federal-Mogul in St. Johns, Michigan.  His responsibilities include customer liaison and TS16949/APQP Implementation.

At the St. Johns plant, Sexton moved up the ranks and achieved a plant staff manager position as Lean Manufacturing Manager.

After expressing an interest in international business dealings, Sexton was an obvious choice to help the bearings division with process improvements and inter-divisional manufacturing and product transfers in Shanghai.  While there, he made improvements with plant layout, process flow and other general improvements to the plant that he was promoted to General/Plant Manager of the Shanghai bearings plant (after a resignation of the Chinese national incumbent).

During his time in China, Federal-Mogul had purchased a material processing plant, also in Shanghai, to compliment Sexton’s machining plant.  He played a key role in helping both sites get connected with the ultimate goal of integrating the two sites.

Sexton holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, and a Master in Business Management Degree from Michigan State University.
