Vic Edelbrock Jr. (1936-2017) was a visionary in the automotive performance industry, building on the legacy of his father, Vic Edelbrock Sr. Born in Los Angeles, Vic Jr. was immersed in the world of high-performance engines from a young age. He took over the family business at the age of 26 after his father’s passing in 1962, guiding Edelbrock LLC to unprecedented heights. 

In 1964, with the assistance of the legendary Bob Joehnk, Vic Jr. produced the revolutionary C-4B manifold for the small-block Chevy, which quickly became a game-changer in the performance parts market. This innovation was soon followed by other iconic products like the Tunnel Ram, Tarantula, and Streetmaster manifolds. Vic’s ingenuity and business acumen ensured Edelbrock remained at the forefront of the speed equipment industry, driving continuous innovation and expansion. His strategic vision enabled the company to not only lead in performance technology but also to adapt and thrive in a competitive market, solidifying its position as a key player in automotive performance. 

From 1971 to 1974, Vic Jr. served as president of the Specialty Equipment Marketing Association (SEMA). During his tenure, he played a crucial role in educating both the public and Congress about the importance and impact of the performance parts industry. His leadership helped shape SEMA into a powerful advocate for automotive enthusiasts and manufacturers. 

While the production of manifolds was a cornerstone of Edelbrock’s success, Vic Jr. was determined to expand the company’s offerings. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, he broadened Edelbrock’s inventory to include camshaft kits, valve train parts, cylinder heads, and other engine accessories. This diversification cemented Edelbrock’s reputation as a comprehensive supplier of high-performance automotive parts. 

Under Vic Jr.’s leadership, the company continued to innovate and grow, maintaining a commitment to quality and performance that had been established by his father. He fostered a culture of excellence and creativity, ensuring that Edelbrock products remained synonymous with high performance and reliability.
